From Broken to Beautiful ~ in Christ.
It’s not a coincidence that you are on this page. Since the beginning of time God has wanted a relationship with you. Jeremiah 31:3 says, “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore, with loving kindness I have drawn you.”
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
Revelation 3:20
Seven Key Steps
We hope this step-by-step guide will help you connect with Jesus. It is the single most important decision of your life.
Sin separates us from God and His love. Romans 3:23 says, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Yes, that means everyone, but it’s even worse. We read in Isaiah 59:2, “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.”
Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” And Proverbs 14:12 says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.” There is only one way to have the penalty of death removed from us, Jesus Christ.
Yes, one way to bridge the chasm between God and us, Jesus. “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’” (John 14:6). In 1 Timothy 2:5 we are again told Jesus is the only way: “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.”
Yes, we all have a choice to either accept the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ or to reject God, separating us from Him. So what do we have to do? Follow Romans 10:9-11, which says, “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.’” Simply put, we admit we are a sinner, ask God to forgive us from our sins, believe in our heart that Jesus took the penalty for our sins and they were nailed to the cross and buried with Him and that He rose again conquering death and sin.
There are many reasons you might not feel ready to begin a relationship with Jesus. You may have unanswered questions about the validity of the Bible or wonder why Christianity is better than other religions in the world. Maybe you don’t want to stop doing certain things that you know are wrong. It may trouble you that the history of Christianity is full of moral failings, or maybe you ask if God is real, why does He let bad things happen? Everyone must wrestle with these and other questions when considering the true message of the Gospel. But please consider this – It is Jesus who is calling you into a relationship with Him. The Bible says, “I stand at the door and knock” (Revelation 3:20). He is knocking right now, and He holds the answers to life’s most challenging questions. Life is short and 2 Corinthians 6:2 states, “Now is the day of salvation.” Consider this thought: If you were to die unexpectedly tonight, where would you spend eternity?
If so, please pray this prayer.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for showing me my need for you. I have sinned against you. Please forgive me for all of my past sins and failures. I believe that your Son Jesus died on the cross and rose again for me and is the only way I can be made right with you. I am choosing to follow you and invite you into my life and heart to be the one guiding me in all things. Help me to love and follow you every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If God has spoken to you and you’ve made a decision to follow Jesus, please let us know at outreach@goodworksinc.org. We want to celebrate with you and welcome you into God’s family!
Congratulations! You just made the biggest decision of your life. In Jesus, you are a new creation living for Him instead of yourself. As 2 Corinthians 5:15 states, “He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.”
Next steps:
- Share the good news! Tell a Bible-preaching pastor or a Christian friend who can help you grow in your new relationship as a child of God.
- Get baptized as your first step of obedience. In Acts 2:38 Peter tells us to repent and be baptized.
- Read your Bible and pray daily. Just like your body needs food daily, your spirit needs to be fed the Word of God and to be in relationship with God in prayer. Psalm 119:105 says God’s Word will direct your paths and enable you to grow in your walk with God.
- Start regularly attending a local church. Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages us to regularly meet together and encourage each other.
- Connect with us. We would love to pray for you or share godly resources with you: outreach@goodworksinc.org.
