Rebuilding Homes. Restoring Hope. Renewing Hearts – including Yours.

Hope isn’t built with words – it’s built with hammers, hearts, and faith. God works through willing hands and generous hearts. Give now because every repaired home is a living testimony of love in action.

One day a month can change your life. When you step out to serve, you’re not just rebuilding homes — you’re restoring hope and opening your heart to what God wants to do in you. Whether you’re swinging a hammer or sharing a prayer, every moment is a chance to reflect Christ’s love. Join us and discover how serving others can deepen your faith, grow your compassion, and transform your perspective — one home, one heart, one day at a time.

FAQ

You should dress for the forecasted weather in clothing appropriate for a construction site. Good Works provides all the tools and safety equipment required, but you may want to bring your own work gloves and bottled water if you prefer. You will be assigned to a work crew leader and technical advisor at the morning orientation. Upon arrival at the worksite your leader will introduce you to the homeowner and open the workday with a prayer prior to assigning projects. The technical advisor will provide guidance and training as required to complete tasks safely and correctly. Lunch will be provided at the worksite. Getting to know the homeowners is highly encouraged so take a break for conversations throughout the day.

Volunteers should arrive at their assigned warehouse at 8:15 to check in and participate in the workday orientation at 8:30 am. Work will typically conclude at the assigned worksite by 4:00 pm.

Good Works operates Saturday workdays year around.  Volunteers are assigned to one of four warehouses conveniently distributed throughout Chester County.

  • Coatesville Area (82 Pearl Alley, Coatesville): 2nd, 3rd & 4th Saturday monthly
  • Exton/West Chester Area (315 S. Whitford Rd.  Exton): 3rd Saturday monthly
  • Phoenixville Area  (Bldg 19 Beulah Heights Street, Phoenixville): 2nd Saturday monthly
  • St. Peters’ Village (3250B St. Peter’s Road,  St. Peter’s Village): 1st Saturday monthly

You can access directions and parking notes on our Warehouse Locations page.

Yes, groups are welcome. We host church and corporate groups regularly. Groups of 8-10 or less are generally assigned to a single worksite. Groups larger than 10 may be assigned to 2 or more homes.

For safety reasons Good Works requires minors (under the age of 18) to be accompanied by a responsible adult. It is recommended that children be no younger than 15 years of age.

All staff and volunteers are asked to serve in a God-honoring manner:

  1. See people as God sees them (1 John 4:11). Good Works is a no-judgement zone.
  2. Give God your best (Col 3:23-24). Craftsmanship like it’s your own home.
  3. Serve without expectations (Luke 6:35). Practice the Golden Rule.
  4. Give God the glory (2 Corinthians 10:17). Humbly serve others.
  5. Let the Holy Spirit guide you. (Galatians 5:25) Do as your conscience leads.
