Prayer Letter
August 2010
Dave Dravecky, a former major league pitcher, shares this commentary on “Rules for Holy Living,” Colossians 3:1-4: “I used to lock my eyes on my catcher’s glove when I was pitching in the major leagues. Batters were merely distractions, especially if they were good hitters. My goal was to so focus on my catcher’s glove that I wouldn’t even see the batter. It is this kind of stare we are instructed to level at the unseen things of God (vv.1-2). Countless distractions will clamor for our attention, trying feverishly to seduce our eyes to drift in their direction, but God urges us to fix our gaze on His eternal truths. Only in that way will we be enabled to look past the vicious cuts life takes at us and wind up with a big “W” on our final scorecard.”
